Moving Beyond the Past.

Trauma isn’t just what happened to you—it’s how your body and mind carry that weight today. We help you process the pain so it no longer controls your present.

Does this sound like you?

6-1.png

Intrusive Memories

Sudden flashbacks or "body memories" that make you feel like the event is happening all over again

6-2.png

Hyper-Vigilance

Feeling "on edge," easily startled, or constantly scanning for danger.

6-3.png

Emotional Numbness

Feeling disconnected from your loved ones or your own body as a way to stay "safe".

6-4.png

Avoidance

Going out of your way to avoid certain places, people, or conversations that might trigger a memory.

Understanding Trauma Storage

When we experience something overwhelming, our brain’s natural 'filing system' can sometimes go offline. Instead of that memory being stored neatly in the past, it stays 'live' in your nervous system. It isn't that you aren't 'over it' or that you aren't strong enough. It’s simply that the memory is stuck. Your brain is trying to protect you by keeping you on high alert, but that constant state of 'red alert' is exhausting.

At StayingSane101, we use specialized tools like EMDR to help your brain resume its natural healing process. We don't just talk about what happened; we work to 'unstick' those memories so they can finally be filed away as history, rather than felt as a present-day threat.

Our Specialized Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Building practical tools to manage the anxiety and negative self-beliefs that often follow a traumatic event.

Somatic Awareness
Learning to listen to your body’s signals and release the physical tension trauma leaves behind.

EMDR

Our primary tool for "unsticking" traumatic memories without requiring you to talk through every painful detail.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all "fix." We use evidence-based tools tailored to your unique nervous system.

Nachum Kaplan (Nak)

Therapist (Master of Counselling, Member of SAC)

Nachum is a therapist and Clinical Member of the SAC, with a Master's from Monash University. His decades in high-stakes corporate environments gave him firsthand understanding of how sustained pressure, shame, and unprocessed failure leave lasting psychological marks. Working primarily from CBT — enriched by martial arts discipline and lived experience — he helps clients identify the meanings attached to painful experiences, regulate overwhelming emotions, and rebuild psychological flexibility. Nachum works especially with men navigating trauma beneath a composed exterior, helping them move from avoidance and shutdown toward clarity, self-compassion, and forward momentum — without harsh self-criticism or empty reassurance.

Tong Hui Wen

Lead Therapist (Master of Counselling, Member of SAC)

Hui Wen is a Clinical Member of the SAC and ACA Level 2 member, and founder of Staying Sane 101. Drawing from attachment theory, psychological science, and her own lived experience of trauma, she helps clients make sense of why they react the way they do — and find their way back to internal safety. Her integrative approach supports those feeling stuck in patterns of hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, or disconnection. Hui Wen's calm, grounded presence creates space for clients to understand their responses without judgment, gradually shifting from automatic reactivity toward greater awareness, flexibility, and a felt sense of safety within themselves.

Jessy Quilindo

Therapist (Master of Counselling, Member of SAC)

Jessy is a trauma-informed therapist with a Master of Counselling from Monash University, accredited with the ACA and SAC. Her background in midwifery and palliative care gave her a profound understanding of grief, attachment, and emotional vulnerability — core threads running through traumatic experience. She works relationally and person-centredly, integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS), mind–body awareness, and nervous system regulation to address how trauma reshapes the body's threat response and erodes self-worth. Jessy specialises in supporting women carrying attachment wounds, emotional exhaustion, and patterns rooted in unprocessed pain — offering steady, attuned presence as the foundation for healing.

Muxin

Hypotherapist (Member of NGH)

Muxin is a registered member of the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) who works at the subconscious level — where trauma responses are often formed and maintained. She helps clients gently shift the deeply ingrained patterns that surface as anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, or an inability to rest. Rather than relying on willpower or conscious insight alone, her calm, client-centred approach creates a focused, receptive state where lasting change becomes more natural and sustainable. Muxin is particularly attuned to those who have carried the weight of past experiences quietly — helping them build internal safety and ease from the inside out.

Why Clients Trust Us

"Working with Nachum has been a turning point for me. Before our sessions, my thoughts felt like they were constantly spiralling — overthinking every conversation, doubting my decisions, and overthinking is tiring!

He was able to help me see the patterns in my thinking and gave me clear, structured ways to challenge them without making me feel judged or “broken.”

Simone Wong

"Jessy has a gentle and compassionate way of listening that makes you feel truly seen and understood. At the same time, she has an incredible ability to ask the right questions that help you uncover patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships that you might not have noticed on your own."

Nicole Yang

"Working with Jessy has been one of the most meaningful investments I’ve made in myself. She has a calm, reassuring presence that makes it easier to talk about difficult experiences and emotions.

Jessy helped me recognize patterns in my relationships and understand the deeper needs behind my reactions. Her insights are thoughtful and practical, and she guides you in a way that helps you feel empowered rather than dependent."

Lola

"I started seeing Nachum during a period when I felt so stuck in my life. I was constantly replaying situations in my head, second-guessing myself, and feeling overwhelmed by decisions both at work and in my personal life.

Nachum has the ability to cut through the noise and help you see the bigger pattern behind your thoughts and reactions. He has a very clear and structured way of working that makes complex emotions easier to understand."

FAQs

Q: How do I know if what I experienced was "traumatic enough" to need therapy?
A: If something happened — and you're still carrying it — that's enough. Trauma isn't defined by how dramatic an event looks from the outside. It's defined by how it lives inside you. If you find yourself triggered by ordinary things, feel disconnected from yourself or others, or can't stop replaying certain memories, your nervous system is telling you it needs help processing what happened.

Q: I've been managing fine on the surface. Do I still need therapy?
A: Many people with trauma are highly functional — until they aren't. Managing on the surface often means working harder than everyone else just to feel okay. If you're exhausted from keeping it together, or notice that certain situations, sounds, or people set you off in ways that feel disproportionate, therapy can help you get to the root rather than just the coping.

Q: Will I have to relive everything in detail to heal?
A: No — and this is one of the biggest fears people bring into their first session. Our approach doesn't require you to narrate every painful detail. Tools like EMDR work by helping your brain process and "file away" difficult memories without you having to verbally re-live them. You remain in control of what you share and when.

Q: What's the difference between trauma therapy and regular therapy?

A: Trauma therapy works at a different level. Regular talk therapy can be helpful, but trauma is often stored in the body and nervous system — not just in conscious thought. We use approaches like EMDR alongside CBT to address both the cognitive patterns and the deeper, body-level responses that keep you feeling stuck or on high alert.

Q: How long does trauma therapy take?

A: It varies more than other areas of therapy, because trauma is deeply personal. Some clients experience significant relief within 8 to 12 sessions. Others with more complex or long-standing trauma may work longer. What we can say is that progress is usually felt — not just measured — and most clients begin to notice a shift earlier than they expect.

Q: What should I expect during my first session?

A: Your initial session is a dedicated clinical intake and assessment. We will discuss your history, current symptoms, and specific goals. This ensures we have a clear roadmap for your treatment and that you have the necessary emotional regulation tools to begin the therapeutic process safely.

Q: How long does a session last?

A: Standard individual sessions last 50 to 60 minutes. Depending on the complexity of the goals we are working toward, some specialized sessions may be scheduled for up to 90 minutes.

Q: How much does a session cost?
A: An in-person session costs $250. If you would like to have the session virtually, it costs $150 per online session.

Q: Is my information kept confidential?

A: Absolutely. As Licensed SAC Clinical Members, we maintain a strict legal and ethical duty to protect your privacy. All sessions are confidential, and your clinical records are stored on a secure, encrypted platform accessible only to your therapeutic team. You remain in full control of the pace and depth of our work together.
